Locations Foundation Treats Keiki to a Morning at the Movies

The Locations Foundation hosted its 16th annual Movie Day at Consolidated Theaters in Kahala, Saturday, July 6, 2024. This highly anticipated event brought together 15 Foundation volunteers and more than 150 keiki from Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii and Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii for a morning of fun, laughter and community spirit.

As the children and their chaperones arrived at the theater for a private screening of “Despicable Me 4,” they were greeted by smiling Foundation volunteers who passed out complimentary popcorn and fountain drinks—ensuring a perfect movie-going experience. The latest film in the Minions series, “Despicable Me 4” is one of the biggest family-friendly movies of this summer and a guaranteed crowd pleaser.

Adding to the day’s excitement, Foundation President and Locations Partner Kristin Mukai presented each nonprofit organization with a $5,000 check to support their missions of providing local youth with enriching programming, safe gathering places and ongoing relationships with supportive adult mentors.

“The Foundation’s annual Movie Day holds a special place in my heart,” said Kristin, who has participated in the event for more than a decade. “It’s our immense pleasure to be able to brighten the day of these deserving keiki, and it’s truly a joy to hear their laughter echo throughout the theater!”

Thanks to the efforts of our caring volunteers, this year’s Locations Foundation Movie Day was a resounding success. Creating cherished memories and making a positive impact in our community are what the Foundation is all about!
