Locations Foundation Adds Pops of Color and Positivity to Koko Head Elementary
Our artsy Locations Foundation volunteers hit the road once again on a sunny Saturday in May 2024 to add colorful, encouraging messages and drawings in chalk to the walkways of Koko Head Elementary in Hawaii Kai.
As in March 2024, when Foundation volunteers chalked messages of support at Manoa Elementary, this chalking event also celebrated the conclusion of the school’s week-long American Heart Association activities. Ten volunteers in all, including Locations agents and employees, as well as Locations Property Management and Hawai’i Mortgage Group employees, expressed their creativity in chalk.
Event organizer and Foundation Advisory Board member Jay Miller, who is also a mortgage loan originator at Hawai’i Mortgage Group, shared the below thank-you message from an appreciative Koko Head Elementary community member:
“Our Locations Foundation volunteers truly enjoy the experience of spreading positivity and promoting a healthy lifestyle through the simple medium of sidewalk chalk,” said Kristin Mukai, Foundation President and Locations Partner. “It’s heartwarming to imagine the smiles on students’ faces as they were greeted with our chalk messages.”

Celebrating Hawaii’s Everyday Heroes: 2025 Locations Foundation Teacher Awards
Every day, school teachers across the Oahu dig deep into their own pockets to make learning come alive—buying art supplies, funding field trips and turning classrooms into laboratories for imagination. The Locations Foundation Teacher Awards Program was created to ease some of that financial burden, while giving our Foundation donors a chance to highlight the educators who have touched their lives.
